Introduction
e-Governance initiatives aim to improve service delivery, transparency, and efficiency through the use of information and communication technology (ICT). In this direction, the Government of Odisha launched the e-Shishu Project to strengthen child welfare services under the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS).

The e-Shishu project is an online child tracking and monitoring system designed to maintain a comprehensive database of children below six years, pregnant women, and lactating mothers. It digitally records services provided through Anganwadi Centres, such as nutrition, immunization, health check-ups, and pre-school education.
This initiative helps in identifying malnourished children and monitoring their growth on a real-time basis. By ensuring accurate data collection, e-Shishu supports evidence-based planning and better coordination among departments like Health and Women and Child Development. It also reduces paperwork and improves accountability at the grassroots level.
The project enhances targeted delivery of welfare schemes and minimizes exclusion and duplication errors.
